Strength training according to the 80/20 rule — How I stay fit as an entrepreneur and web designer and train for surfing at the same time
Sport has always been a part of my life. Even as a child and adolescent, I tried almost every sport: soccer, basketball, tennis, skating, fitness — and finally my great passion surfing. For me, movement is simply part of it. But since I have children and started my own business as Entrepreneur and web designer Lead, my time has become scarcer than ever before.
Right here comes the 80/20 rule in weight training into the game. This principle — known as the Pareto Principle — states that with 20% of our effort, we can already achieve 80% of the result. And that fits in perfectly with my training.
My training approach: short, intensive, effective
Currently I go two usually three Go to the gym once a week. Each unit only lasts around 25 minutes — a compact full body workout. Despite this short period of time, I am achieving noticeable results. Of course I could make even better progress with more training, but with my approach I'm likely to achieve 80% of the maximum, and that's completely enough for me right now.

I consciously use in my training Devices and compound exercises such as leg press, pull-ups on the machine or bench press on the machine. These exercises use several muscle groups at the same time, making them extremely efficient and a perfect fit for my busy schedule. Another advantage: I can quickly change the weights and quickly switch from device to device, without long breaks or changeover times.
On classic Isolation exercises, which only target a single muscle, I am currently deliberately avoiding. Since the most important muscles are also trained during the compound exercises anyway, the effect is barely lower — but I save a tremendous amount of time. Should my everyday life leave more room for longer workouts again at some point, I will also specifically incorporate insulation exercises again. At the moment, however, everything is clearly dominated by Efficiency and maximum benefit.
Why weight training is essential for entrepreneurs and web designers
As an entrepreneur and web designer I spend a lot of time at my desk — often concentrating in front of the screen for hours. This is exactly where it shows how important weight training For me it is:
- Compensation for sitting: Many hours spent in the same position lead to back pain, tension, and poor posture. Weight training strengthens my back muscles, opens my chest and ensures a healthy posture.
- More energy in everyday life: Instead of feeling tired and exhausted, training gives me fresh strength — both physically and mentally. Especially after an intensive session, I immediately notice that I can think more clearly, work more concentrated and be more productive. Energy is not something that you simply “have” — it is created by the right activities. For me, strength training is exactly the key to gaining new power and using it specifically in everyday life.
- Stress relief: Even when the day is full and projects challenge me — in the gym I can switch off, clear my mind and reduce stress. After that, I am mentally clearer again and make better decisions.
- Better concentration: Weight training promotes blood circulation, increases the oxygen content in the blood and thus supports my mental performance. As a web designer, I benefit from longer concentration and more creativity.
- Stay healthy, stay efficient in the long term: As an entrepreneur in particular, I want to stay fit in the long term. Strength training protects against lifestyle diseases such as back pain, overweight or cardiovascular problems. And my customers also get more out of it when I'm fit and healthy.
In short: Weight training is my success factor in business — because it keeps me efficient, balanced and healthy.
Weight training makes me ready for surfing
In addition to business and family, the whole thing has another major advantage for me: My training gets me ready for surfing.
Surfing requires power, balance and strong core muscles. That is exactly what strength training gives me: strong legs, stable core muscles, explosive arms. This allows me to endure longer sessions in water and have the energy to fully take every wave with me.
80/20 rule as a success principle
The beautiful: The 80/20 rule can be applied not only to my training, but also to my business and everyday life. It helps me set priorities, use time efficiently and at the same time pay attention to the really important things — family, health, sport and passion.
Weight training is my game changer
Even though my days are full, I never want to give up exercising. With efficient strength training according to the 80/20 rule I stay fit, efficient and stress-resistant. This not only helps me in my job as an entrepreneur and web designer, but also makes me strong for my surfing hobby.
And the best part: I can achieve maximum results — physically, mentally and professionally — in just a short time.
